Rental conditions
Last updated: 21 April 2026
1. Parties and documents
These Rental conditions apply to car rental services provided by S.C. Focus Team Consulting SRL, operating the Carent brand (“Lessor”), to the renter and authorised drivers (“Hirer”). The rental agreement and vehicle handover document signed at pick-up, together with the booking confirmation, form the complete contract.
2. Driver requirements
The Hirer and any additional drivers must hold a valid driving licence recognised in Romania for the vehicle category, meet minimum and maximum age limits stated at booking, and present a valid identity document. We may refuse handover if requirements are not met; charges may apply as set out at booking.
3. Vehicle category and condition
Reservations are usually by category (“or similar”). The vehicle offered will match the booked category or a higher one at no extra charge unless otherwise agreed. The Hirer must inspect the vehicle at pick-up and report existing damage; otherwise the vehicle may be deemed received in the condition recorded in our check-out report.
4. Rental period, late return
The rental runs from the confirmed pick-up to the confirmed return time. Late return may incur extra day charges, administrative fees and loss-of-use costs as per the tariff in force. Extensions require prior approval.
5. Price, deposit, payment
The price includes the elements stated in your offer (e.g. rental days, included kilometres if applicable, VAT). A security deposit or card pre-authorisation may be required at pick-up and released after return subject to contract terms and inspection delays by your bank.
6. Insurance and liability
Motor third-party liability insurance (RCA) is included as required by Romanian law within the limits of the policy. Optional damage waiver or reduced excess packages, theft cover, and exclusions (e.g. tyres, glass, underbody, interior, negligence, driving under influence, off-road use) are exactly as stated in your rental agreement and tariff. The Hirer remains liable for amounts not covered by insurance or optional waivers, within the caps and exclusions in the contract.
7. Fuel
Fuel policy (e.g. same-to-same or full-to-full) is stated at booking. Refuelling service charges may apply if the vehicle is returned with less fuel than agreed.
8. Fees and penalties
In specific situations, contractual fees and penalties may apply at least at the minimum amounts below, or as set out in the rental agreement and tariff in force when the service is performed. Amounts are indicative; the signed rental agreement and pick-up/return report prevail, without prejudice to mandatory consumer rights.
- Missing fuel: cost of missing fuel + from EUR 10 refuelling service fee.
- Excessively dirty return: from EUR 100 + VAT.
- Smoking in the vehicle: from EUR 100 + VAT + any repair costs where applicable.
- Lost keys: from EUR 150 + VAT.
- Lost documents: from EUR 100 + VAT.
- Damaged windscreen: from EUR 150 + VAT (price varies depending on vehicle model).
9. Use of the vehicle
The vehicle must be used lawfully, only on public roads unless the contract allows otherwise, without overloading, racing or driver training, and only by named drivers. Cross-border travel is allowed only if booked and confirmed; additional fees and insurance conditions may apply.
10. Fines, tolls, penalties
The Hirer is responsible for traffic fines, parking penalties, tolls and related administrative fees during the rental. We may process personal data to identify the driver where the law requires and charge an administration fee per event as per the tariff.
11. Accidents and theft
In case of accident, theft or vandalism, the Hirer must notify us and, where required, the police immediately and follow insurer instructions. Failure to report or obtain required documents may void cover and result in full liability.
12. Cancellation and no-show
Cancellation and no-show rules (refunds, fees, deadlines) are those confirmed at booking or in the rental agreement. Consumer rights under distance selling rules may be limited for car rental services; we will apply Romanian and EU law as applicable.
13. Law and disputes
The contract is governed by Romanian law. Consumers may use ANPC / SAL and the EU ODR platform. Court competence follows applicable jurisdictional rules.
